Reserve your slot for Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix

Every year, as summer begins, the world’s elite descend on the French Riviera for the showcase events of the year: the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix.

However, getting to these events is not without difficulty, as the huge volumes of attendees put extra strain on the local airports in Nice and Cannes. JetFlo is ready to guide you through the process of securing precious landing slots for these events, allowing you to enjoy the glamour and excitement without travel stress.

Special mesures in place

In order to ease the burden of managing such a large amount of traffic, both airports release a predetermined number of landing slots in the months leading up to the events. An airport slot is a specific time frame, usually around 20 mins, during which an aircraft can land or take off from an airport. It’s a part of the airport’s effort to manage air traffic and ensure that the airport can handle the number of flights scheduled, especially around big events such as the Cannes Film Festival or SuperBowl.

In addition, a Prior Permission Required (PPR) is a separate authorization that an aircraft operator must obtain before arriving at or departing from certain airports. It’s an additional requirement that typically applies to smaller or private airports, to ensure that they can accommodate the aircraft.

Limited parking space and opening hours poses restrictions on landing at Cannes airport

Both Nice (LFMN) and Cannes (LFMD), will be mandating airport slots and prior permission required (PPR) for the Film Festival and Grand Prix. Cannes airport poses a particular challenge due to its limited capacity and restricted opening hours. During this period any schedule changes of more than 20 minutes will require cancellation of approved slots and the need to reapply.

Alternative options

While preferred airports for the Cannes Film Festival are LFMN and LFMD, alternates to consider, should parking become an issue, include Toulon (LFTH), Le Castellet (LFMQ) and Marseilles (LFML). In the case of the Monaco Grand Prix, if you’re not able to obtain parking at LFMN then Genoa (LIMJ), 85 miles away and with helicopter transfers available to Monaco, may be considered.

At JetFlo, we’re not just about booking flights; we’re about crafting journeys. While the rush for slots is underway, we have the expertise and network to ensure you’re not just another aircraft in the queue.
